so commit fraud injury people and steal only gets a year and half in jail what kind of message are we sending?
He should have had to spend 5 years in jail for every vicitim and repay the state for his jail time and medicare and medicad with interst, I belelive the going payday loans rates is 50% every two weeks
I see no reason why "Prohibition doesn't works'" comment was collapsed. It's funny to see people like him comment on these types of things. But to the subject. How does this go on for this long and no one bring it up untill now.
All we need is a republican president, then all regulations can be done away with and no white collar crime will ever take place, all legally sanctioned and blessed by the party of NO.
If a Middle-Class or Poor-Class citizen stole $ 130,000 AND gave people infections they'd charge him with Attempted Murder and Grand Larceny...and if he got 20 Years to life he would feel LUCKY! On top of this meager sentence, his practice was ONLY SUSPENDED in Massachusetts, allowing him to practice in OUR OTHER 49 United States. Now that sounds like CLASS WARFARE! Yes, Fox News and Republicans, there has been Class Warfare against us mere Subjects of the State for the past few decades. Reagan was such a Visionary...on how to set up the game plan for sucking all the power From the People, and delivering it to collective Royalty, our Masters, the Top 1%. And we all know that this story is by no means an anomaly.
"I see no reason why "Prohibition doesn't works'" comment was collapsed."
I agree. I don't see why anyone's comments should be collapsed, but people do it all the time here on NewsVine. You aren't supposed to collapse people's comments just because you disagree with what they say. After all, it's part of the dialogue whether you agree or not. If you don't agree, then say why you don't agree, but don't collapse their comments.
some ambulance chasing lawyers will probably file another one of those frivolous lawsuits, and some poor insurance company will have to raise it's rates for the other Doctors it insures, thus causing the Doctors to raise their rates on their patients, damn lawyers.
some poor insurance company will have to raise it's rates for the other Doctors it insures, thus causing the Doctors to raise their rates on their patients
my god....you've got me verklempt over thinking about "poor insurance companies"
(sniff, cough....loudly blows nose into hanky)
and even worse, poor doctors - who, BTW, get to deduct 100 Per Cent of their malpractice insurance premiums - it mays me want to cry
and to think.....all my dentist ever did for me was to perform an "extraction" on my wallet (ouch!)
Where to start? First of all, why did isn't this guy in jail with real time to be served, say 5-10 YEARS? Secondly, why did it take until 2006 to "suspend" his dental license? It should have been "REVOKED" with no possible way to get it back. Paperclips, assault and intimidation??? Geez, what did the guy have to do to actually lose his license, kill somebody?
Complain all you want, but a Republican was President during all his assaults when no justice of any kind was given to the victims of this criminal "dentist".
All we need is a republican president, then all regulations can be done away with and no white collar crime will ever take place,
Yeah because the tons upon tons of regulations we have now did such a wonderful job of preventing this. Hey, I've got an idea, if regulations don't work lets just add more of them. Moron.
He uses paperclips for root canals endangering people's lives, defrauds medicaid of $130,000, commits assault and battery, illegally prescribing medications and witness intimidation and all he gets is 2.5yrs, 1.5 of which is suspended?! What, is the judge his cousin?! This is outrageous. You get 2 yrs for simple assault & battery. He should be made to compensate his victims (their not patients at this point) pay back all the dough to medicaid, lose his license and do jail time. What a sick puppy.
What a lame punishment! The FIRST thing to happen is he should LOSE his license to practice. Then he should PAY those he used paperclips on, (or gave any other substandard care.) Then he should serve TIME.
As for insurance and other costs, untreated disease anywhere in the body can cause many problems, including death. So, during your political debates over healthcare, who will best advance that cause, and how the system should be set up, make sure you insist on coverage for eyes and teeth--that means regular dental cleanings and exams, restorative work, orthodontia; regular eye exams and prescription lenses.
ObamaCare has much to do with this because this involves Medicare, Medicare Fraud and highlights old problems our Government still has in administering Mecicare, healthcare, Veterans / returning soldiers medical etc.
Obamacare is 2,700 pages written by Special Interest Groups of rules and regulations and our Federal Government can't properly administer healthcare. But, HA, Obama can give a good speech and 2,700 pages of bill is the answer to all your health problems or whatever ails you. Go read the entire bill.
Yep. the primary imbecile. Do the gene pool a favor and blow the dog sh1t that passes for your brains out now. And in the unlikely event you've managed to produce children, don't forget to strangle the little morons in their sleep first.

Backcountry164 - Spoken like a real moron my friend. Now granted regulations can't stop any crook from committing a crime, but no regulations is the get out of jail(responsiblity) card. The old west is dead, try to keep up!
Spoken like a real moron my friend. Now granted regulations can't stop any crook from committing a crime, but no regulations is the get out of jail(responsiblity) card. The old west is dead, try to keep up!
No one is suggest no regulations, nor has anyone EVER done so, durrrr. I mean is that the only argument you guys have? Whenever someone suggests we've got more than enough regulation now the standard come back is the same ol' "no regulation, blah, blah, blah" as they start to foam at the mouth. Why not try to get a clue and come up with an argument to support your opinion that isn't based on some fantasy you libs have about republicans wanting "no regulation". You're not really dumb enough to actually believe that drivel are you?
Where have you been the last 15 years? Slumbering in a cave? The corporate "cook the books"(Enron, Tyco, etc.) Thus the need for Sarbane Oxley to put some accountability in the numbers that those companies put out as fact but really only fiction. The housing bubble disaster(so many acting so badly). I know, the only culprit is Fannie & Freddie(do or did you swallow that crap whole). Do you honestly believe business will conduct themselves honestly if there is no guideline or restrictions, when the bottom line is the only thing driving them? Don't you recall Treas Sec Paulson saying in effect "I had no idea everyone involved would act so badly and I never thought there should be no regulation. Regulations on the book will not always work and more regulations will be needed.
If you want to actually examine the facts, what this story shows is that for-profit healthcare doesn't work. The reason why capitalism is touted as a workable system is that competition is supposed to lower prices and improve product quality for the consumer. Are we really healthier and is our healthcare cheaper?
This is not to say that government-run healthcare can't have its own set of flaws. If you are paid by the government, you can become lazy and inefficient. But the same is also true of large mega-corporations that have a bureacratic size similar to the Federal Government. You might make the argument that corporations are answerable to shareholders, but then, our government is answerable to voters.
And most of all, since corruption and theft can exist in the federal government, it can also exist in private companies - as this article shows.
Do you honestly believe business will conduct themselves honestly if there is no guideline or restrictions, when the bottom line is the only thing driving them
There you go again with the "NO guidelines or restriction" garbage. You sound like a broken record. No one has EVER suggested there be no regulations, NEVER EVER. I responded to your original bull shti about republicans wanting NO regulation, well apparently it has been YOU living in a friggin cave because GWB LOVED regulation. He enacted more new regulation in his first 3 years than Obama did. So your garbage about republicans not wanting any regulation is just the drivel you've allowed yourself to be spoon-fed by your puppet-masters. Please stop trying to regurgitate it on the rest of us, we're not all that stupid.
Loss of jobs here, wasting billions of dollars and for friggin what? So someone with a miniature pony as a "service animal" will be accommodated in every single hotel and restaurant across the US. Give me a friggin break, the vast majority of regulations serve some special interest but people like you are too willfully ignorant to realize it or even care.
I didn't see a single quote from anyone in either article claiming they want no regulation. What? Did you do a google search and then post articles with headlines that seemed to back up your claim? These are articles written by pundits making the same BS argument that amused but not distracted is trying to make.
Most regualtions are not bad and in fact some of those regualtions I saw listed on your link are actual decent regulations
Most? Obviously you have no clue just exactly how many regulations there are in this country. This list is a perfect example, even you could only pick 2 out of 10 that you agree with.
The mercury one is in fact in repsonse to goverment spending cleaning up mercury in certian areas
Everyoneelectric bill goes up because we can't wait and phase the standards in as new plants replace old ones? And the incredible irony is that the light bulbs bill will INCREASE mercury in landfills as people toss in the trash the bulbs the government told them they had to buy. That's the problem, no one even bothers to consider the unintended consequence and cost. As long as the sheeple think it sounds good they'll buy right into it.
and the net netural deal comes from comcastblocking or slowing people down when they were streaming videos or downloading content(legal or otherwise)
Are you friggin kidding me? You think it's a wise idea to regulate an entire industry because one company was being unfair? Hey, here's an idea, STOP doing business with that company if you don't like what they're doing. Duh. That is how the free market regulates itself. Instead the government comes along, makes a new rule that everyone pays for, and instead of being driven out of the market, the same company that f'ed you over to begin with just finds a new way to do so. Don't tell a company they need to play fair, let them go out of business when everyone gets tired of their cheating.
so riddle me this should the federal goverment still pay for the for profit company pollution?
. The main political effect of this slump has been the strengthening of the right wing of the Republican Party, with its doctrinaire insistence on further deregulation; in fact, of the various Republicans who have a realistic shot at the presidency, each one has publicly declared that regulation is one of the greatest evils facing the nation and has sworn to liberate banks and financial institutions from government supervision.
Under the guidance of this doctrine, America's leaders exempted certain derivatives from regulatory oversight; they watered down requirements that banks balance their risk with safe assets; they overruled state-level predatory lending laws; they exempted credit default swaps from regulation as insurance products and they dialled back the Federal Reserve's regulatory powers.
As long as we allow federal regulations and bureaucratic red tape to get in the way of energy exploration, our country will never solve its energy crisis, and Americans will continue to pay the price in high costs.
Regulation can actually benefit big business and corporate greed, while simultaneously killing small businesses that are the backbone of our now faltering economy. This is why I get so upset every time someone claims regulation can resolve the crisis that we are in. Rather, it will only exacerbate it.
Are you friggin kidding me? You think it's a wise idea to regulate an entire industry because one company was being unfair? Hey, here's an idea, STOP doing business with that company if you don't like what they're doing.
So tell me this how does one stop doing business with a company that is a "net" hub and most if not all the smaller compinies use it networks
Importantly, the new approach will be protocol-agnostic; that is, it
will not manage
congestion by focusing on the use of the specific protocols that place a disproportionate burden
on network resources, or any other protocols. Rather, the new approach will focus on managing
the traffic of those individuals who are using the most bandwidth at times when network
congestion threatens to degrade subscribers’ broadband experience and who are contributing
disproportionately to such congestion at those points in time.
So lets see you are pro posioning the enviorment or por govement clean up which still adds to the power bill (which by the way is already going up do the dergualtion of the powerlines)
You are pro comcast censorship
Free market is not going to regulate itself with legal monoplies in place (where you can get cable and power from depends on your neighorhood) and a lot of areas you have no choice but to go with the legal monoply
OK! Let's try to break this down so maybe you'll understand. Regulations came into being because somebody or somebodies screwed up. Are you with me so far? Even if there are regulations, if the regulator doesn't enforce them or turns a blind eye to skulduggery(take for instance the SEC under the Bush administration didn't do their job to pull the reins in before or during the mortgage meltdown). If you think business will always allow their better angel to do the right thing, your not only naive but clearly brain damaged. When regulations are proposed the end product becomes so watered down to be nearly useless because the lobbyist go into action and try to kill it before it can be adopted. So just because there is a regulation(Potemkin village) on the books doesn't mean everything is just oakeydokey. Get my drift. Your aurgument about businesses going off shore because of regulations is just one of their excuses. You can continue to kowtow to Corp America but it just doesn't work for me.
Republicans are for less regualtions, let the compinies regualte themselves just like the banks that help cause the crash
Ron Paul wants to end regualtions put tort control in place disband the EPA but the tort control will stop any real control of clean up through punishment(money being taken away)
business are not leaving america due to regulations, they are leaving america because they can pay a person 17 a day to build Iphones
5 a day to produce shoes and nobody cares if you hire kids and pay them less
they can create toxic spill and nobody will want them to clean it up
the list goes on and on why compinies leave america
(by the way the min wage is a law, the child labor law is a law and the EPA has the clean air and water act which is the law)
Well I don't have an hour to post a response and quite frankly, Wolften's post's border on gibberish. I assume half of it is quoting other sources but I'm not going to waste my time sorting though it if he can't be bothered to make a coherent post.
OK! Let's try to break this down so maybe you'll understand. Regulations came into being because somebody or somebodies screwed up. Are you with me so far?
No, I'm not with you because you're flat out wrong. I'll stick to this one statement to make my point. In Colorado you need a license to be a hair stylist. In order to get that license you need to spend more hours in school than you would if you wanted a license to be a chiropractor. That really makes sense to you guys? You actually believe that regulation came into place because someone screwed something up? Really? Just answer that one question on top of your upcoming rants please.
Big business and special interest groups loves regulation. They spend millions on lobbyists to influence how those regs are written and implemented and then they spend millions more on lawyers to keep them in compliance and to find the loopholes. The reason we have banks and companies that are "too big to fail" is because we have created a system where only the big boys can afford to play. You look to regulation for all the answers blind to the fact that it was regulation that created much of the mess.
Neither one of you will ever get it because you can't see past the end of your nose. You cherry pick a few regulations and con yourselves into believing all regulation is a good thing. I'll finishby once again pointing out that NO ONE says there should be NO REGULATION. The original claim you made and a claim you have failed utterly to prove. Basically you were spewing the same garbage every liberal does anytime regulation is mentioned and after being called out on it you've made NO attempt to prove that claim. If republicans want no regulation why did they pass so many under Bush? I expect you'll ignore this question as you did above because it proves you're just a parrot repeating what you've been conned into believing. Polly want a cracker?
The woman is expected to spend 18 grand and two years in school even though there is no school that teaches the one thing she does. Please defend it; I dare you.
Some regulations come into being because big compinies want them to stop compention
Others come into play because people got hurt
hard hats, breaks, vents in factories all came along because people got hurt or killeed

TITLE 30--MINERAL RESOURCES
CHAPTER I--MINE SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
PART 56_SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS_SURFACE METAL AND NONMETAL MINES--Table of Contents
Subpart N_Personal Protection
Sec. 56.15002 Hard hats.
All persons shall wear suitable hard hats when in or around a mine or plant where falling objects may create a hazard.
Comcast got busted for limiting people from using their network as per the agreement they had entered. they had also stopped people that used their networks (small region cable compinies in maryland) properly by slowing or stopping downloads, again that is why the net netural regualtion went into place
The mercury regulation will not shut down any power plants in fact they will only be shut down if they do not fullfill a current regualtion about the oouput waste and gases
The simple matter of the facts is the goverement is cleaning up mercury for for profit compinies and treating people that got posioned
why we have banks to big to fail is because we deregulated them and allowed investing banks and lending banks to merge
1994, Riegle-Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act
– This bill
eliminated previous restrictions on interstate banking and branching. It passed with broad bipartisan
I have to laugh at what Devon-596739 said about the white-out. Some years ago my coworker did that just as a prank, on one of her front teeth (kids, DON'T try this at home!). One of our engineers noticed and asked her about it, and she said she was having a new whitening treatment, but on only one tooth at a time. Finally he realized she was just joking. But it took her a while to get that white-out off, and it would've been poisonous if she'd swallowed it!
On the main point of the article, I've had two root canal fillings from different endodontists and am satisfied that neither one used paper clips (I've seen the X-rays). All I can say is, what a STOOPID thing to use paper clips when they'd be so easily detectable!
ONE lousy year for bilking the government of of how much medicare and medicaid? This is so pointless to even take these thugs to court.
He already has plans for the millions he has in some account somewhere that the Feds have not even found. He is smiling all the way to jail and the government officials have egg on their face again.
Here's a really good question, did he do this only to the poor and elderly? Did he see them as easier victims? Did he have a sense of entitlement that led him to victimize those who saw him via goverment aid? I would be very interested to know.
They were the elderly and the poor, folks on disability and SSN don't have a lot of money, they go where their insurance will be taken, even if it's a quack dentist or doctor...I once twent to a Dr. who's hands smelled like he just wiped his butt..needless to say I asked him to please wash his hands before he did anything to me...he was not happy, and started to question me as to why I would insist on his washing of his hands...I told him that just because I didn't have a lot of money doesn't mean he gets to examine me with dirty germ ridden hands! I walked out and reported him to the AMA...I don't know what happened and I didn't care! He was a dirty doctor who didn't even practice minimal hygene!
He didn't do it because their poor. but because the Medicaid/Medicare systems are overloaded and unchecked, it was easy money. With private insurance, I usually get a statement of services or bill for ramining balance for a service provided.
this kind of fraud affect the children, elderly, and handicapped people that depend upon the system. there constantly making cutting and taking away, because of idiots like this.
just an FYI... I work in a dental office and I do the billing for Medicaid and we have to submitt a detailed claim, like a private insurance and when we get paid, we get the statement is detailed too... I dont know how others states work but in NC is very detailed.
Didn't make him smart, who do you think looks stooped in this. Bet he has a great Smile right! One year! Just wait for the law suites of course lets hope those lawyers know how to look for money!
Didn't make him smart, who do you think looks stooped in this. Bet he has a great Smile right! One year! Just wait for the law suites
Next time that you're trying to talk about someone's intelligence, try to spell "stupid" right. Also, it is "law suits" not "suites" a "suite" would be what you find in a hotel... just saying.
Spell check only works on some things I guess. Stupid me for trusting Tec. Didn't think that look right!!!! That's why I'm not a dentist, though I did work for the ADA!
Bubba, I hate to add insult to injury but it's spelled Tech (short for technology). Sorry.
At least you have an opinion and are not afraid to voice it. We all need to do that whether it's about one dentist doing something so awful because he just couldn't be bothered to spend money for the correct materials or 1% of our population that seem to be able to make millions of people vote against their own self interest election after election.
So good for you to voice an opinion. Some of the spelling may be incorrect but at least your idea is a good one. I would venture to bet that some of his patients have already consulted lawyers. So good for them too.
Friend of ours is a long-time professional guitarist. He keeps super glue with him at all times to repair cuts to his fingers so he can keep playing. He says it works fine, an fast.
"Friend of ours is a long-time professional guitarist. He keeps super glue with him at all times to repair cuts to his fingers so he can keep playing."
That's fine as long as he keeps a solvent such as finger nail polish remover handy just in case he accidentally super glues his fingers together. In that case he wouldn't be playing the guitar anymore, at least not until surgeons were able to separate his fingers again.
Prag and Alan- yes, I know there is medical super glue for just such things, but would you want it used to close a large gaping wound? And it's been shown that those south of the border plastic surgeons use all kind of construction supplies like cement and caulk for breast augmentation and butt implants, as well...
And Alan for the guitar player who gets little cuts, it works great! My husband is also a guitar player and uses it for the same thing.
Super glue and nail glue can both be used to close small cuts. Some nail glue even comes with a little brush so it's easier to apply it just where you want it to go.
Alan Dean Foster & Lynn W, I used to work as a mechanic on heavy equipment, was always getting nicks and cuts on my hands, super glue burns a bit, but it always stopped the bleeding and kept the oil and chemicals out of the cut until it healed. On one instance i had gotten a 2 inch cut on the side of my hand (pinky side) should have gone for stitches, the hospital was over an hour away from the job site i was at and it was getting late. I broke out the super glue and sealed it up. Another mechanic that was with me said, you need to get that one sewn up. After i applied the super glue, i told him i use liquid stitches. The look on his face was priceless.
With visits to the doctor even for little things at outrageous $, then superglue sounds like a great idea for some things. Just make sure that the wound is being cleaned first, even if it seems small, because even small wounds can become seriously infected.
The one year doesn't even cover the assault and battery, illegally prescribing medications and witness intimidation. It sounds like half the story is missing! Who was he working with, what other dr's names was he using, where did he get his license, why did it take so long to get this story out.
I've been following the story for a while. Been in the local news. A sure fire way to get in the national news is inappropriate use of office supplies.
seeing root canals can be upwards of several thousand and he was doing them 4 to 5 times a day according to some reports and cutting cost by over hald using inpoper studs(paperclips) and haveing been busted prior to this seires of "mistakes" which last over several years and possibly several thousand patients so the amount is upwards of several 100k to a million
Not excatley chump change
and the whole deal about his partners not knowing when he was using them as docs doing the work......
Medicare does not cover dental, hearing or eyes. So, by the governments standards, you can be toothless, deaf and blind and you are doing great. I am working on all three and going broke.
P.S., that and the health of the spine. And may I add that for those who have limited finances and still need dental care, check your area for dental schools. For example, in the L.A. area, U.S.C., U.C.L.A., and Loma Linda U. have dental schools which provide a variety of dental care at discounted rates, and for those who qualify, on a sliding scale of cost.
I may have inadvertently started this debate. The article clearly says that the good dentist received $130,000 from "Medicaid" I incorrectly said "Medicare" -- I don't know what the s**t difference it makes. Marinmom: If you ripped off the IRS for $130,000 do you think they wouldn't be coming after you? I agree w/ Wolften Medicare does cover some dental but the article doesn't give the figure.
Not even good white colar crime he should have wnt into the finace business he could have stold millions and spent less time in jail. I'll make a bet he will be practicing dental medicine again Only in America
my gawd paper clips will corrode and rust and the infections could have traveled to their brains and cause cancer and loss of their jaws, and on and on, and then the money he stole on top of it, and he gets a year!? what the hell is going on! this needs to be investigated! a minimum of 5 years, preferred 10 years, and pay every damn penny back/with interest would have been the correct sentence. this needs to be investigated as to why he got off so easy!
Ever notice how people of privilege always get off with a light sentence, no matter what the crime might be. It seems as though they always take care of their own.
Do you mean something like the deadly car accident Laura Bush had all those years ago and somehow she ended up the victim when she told Reader's Digest about it?
Ever notice how people of privilege always get off with a light sentence, no matter what the crime might be. It seems as though they always take care of their own.
I think the RICH celebrities, rock stars, movie stars, athletes who contribute nothing to society get off much lighter than the docs and dentists. Where's the outrage there??
Imagine the pain his former patients will endure and the possibility of dying from infection due to his acts. On top of that, he gets one year in some country club jail.
We need a National Registry which records convictions and reprimands for ALL doctors and dentisits and is available to the public. Our community has attracted doctors from other states who have turned out to be drug users or those deemed incompetent. People should not have to be guinea pigs for sorry medical or dental treatment by doctors who move from state to state.
The Medicaid fraud pales beside the pain and suffering this greedy SOB caused!
Cause excess pain to your patients and purposely defraud the goverment/medicaid and only gets a year in jail. Sentence should have been a lot longer and he should have had all his possions taken away. Whats wrong with this system.
yeah if he had no wife or kids. Thats the problem they wind up hurt more than him he still gets 3 hots and a cott while they would be the ones struggling. He should have to do hard labor the whole time in there and make him pay it back when he is released.
so commit fraud injury people and steal only gets a year and half in jail what kind of message are we sending?
He should have had to spend 5 years in jail for every vicitim and repay the state for his jail time and medicare and medicad with interst, I belelive the going payday loans rates is 50% every two weeks
This guy needs to be a Walmart greeter, not a dentist.
.
he probley shopped at walmart to get his medical supplies
So paper clips are bad? Does that mean I need to be worried about the "Chicklets" too?
Wolften,
"so commit fraud injury people and steal only gets a year and half in jail what kind of message are we sending?"
I agree, but you forgot to mention the witness intimidation he was charged with, too, in addition to all of the above.
All because of a; Loose Screw in his Cabeza/ Head......
those go without saying especial since they were pleaded down
All for the want of an honest billing department that should have seen one of the partners was doing work on differnet patients at the same time
The partners are pleading no knowledge of what the "paperclip" doc did
It's called the "Obamacare special" coming soon to a dentist near you!
The Party of No surely respects his "austerity measures."
That's what you get when Mammon comes before safety.
I see no reason why "Prohibition doesn't works'" comment was collapsed. It's funny to see people like him comment on these types of things. But to the subject. How does this go on for this long and no one bring it up untill now.
All we need is a republican president, then all regulations can be done away with and no white collar crime will ever take place, all legally sanctioned and blessed by the party of NO.
probation sorry to say this is what obmacare is supposed to fix
Of course you are more than welcome to use him as your Doc when he gets his lic back in a couple of years
What the hell does Obamacare have to do with dental?
An infected tooth can kill if left untreated.
And Obamacare has nothing to do with dental, because no plan exists to include dental with national health coverage.
not sure ask probihation and Obama care was supposed and is supposed to reduce fraud from the medicad and medicare insurance programs
I don't think that's what the "Easy Button" was inteded for...
If a Middle-Class or Poor-Class citizen stole $ 130,000 AND gave people infections they'd charge him with Attempted Murder and Grand Larceny...and if he got 20 Years to life he would feel LUCKY! And we all know that this story is by no means an anomaly.
Since he is probably only doing injuries to the poor and/or elderly, no one cares. When this blows over he will be out injuring even more people......
He SHOULD have been given tens years AND made to do dentistry on the other inmates, who would do more than file complaints if he messed up!
TheWhiteJudge,
"I see no reason why "Prohibition doesn't works'" comment was collapsed."
I agree. I don't see why anyone's comments should be collapsed, but people do it all the time here on NewsVine.
This "Dentist" should get a root canal without Novacane
An infected tooth can kill if left untreated.
And Obamacare has nothing to do with dental care because the national health care plan will not include dental.
@amused but not distracted
Wunvitas, what was it The Great Orator said?
"The War on Poverty is over. The poor lost!"
Bad boy! Don't do that again!
Of course he only get's 1 year, jails are meant for the real criminals like the friendly non-violent neighborhood pot dealer.
@jwfun
Except that MOST of the regulations assoiciated with Obamacare haven't even been written yet so the end total will be FAR more then 2,700 pages.
Jesus, what a collection of imbeciles. "Obamacare" has nothing to do with this story. Do the world a favor and STFU.
@MarkC-3886135
Awwwww, did you get upset mark, so sorry. Tell your mommy it was all my fault when you go to get your booboo kissed. waaaaa
Yep. the primary imbecile. Do the gene pool a favor and blow the dog sh1t that passes for your brains out now. And in the unlikely event you've managed to produce children, don't forget to strangle the little morons in their sleep first.
@MarkC-3886135
Translation- "waaaaa, waaaaa, waaaaaa"
Backcountry164 - Spoken like a real moron my friend. Now granted regulations can't stop any crook from committing a crime, but no regulations is the get out of jail(responsiblity) card. The old west is dead, try to keep up!
@amused but not distracted
And most of all, since corruption and theft can exist in the federal government, it can also exist in private companies - as this article shows.
amused but not distracted
Here's an example of what you get when you allow yourself to be conned into believing any and all regulation is a good thing- http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/top-10-worst-federal-rules-2011
Loss of jobs here, wasting billions of dollars and for friggin what? So someone with a miniature pony as a "service animal" will be accommodated in every single hotel and restaurant across the US. Give me a friggin break, the vast majority of regulations serve some special interest but people like you are too willfully ignorant to realize it or even care.
ron paul, newt and the current tea part y members want no regulation
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/06/republicans-no-business-regulation
http://www.dailypaul.com/204372/free-market-with-no-regulations
And by the way OSHEA set regulations,
Most regualtions are not bad and in fact some of those regualtions I saw listed on your link are actual decent regulations
The mercury one is in fact in repsonse to goverment spending cleaning up mercury in certian areas
and the net netural deal comes from comcast blocking or slowing people down when they were streaming videos or downloading content(legal or otherwise)
@Wolften
I didn't see a single quote from anyone in either article claiming they want no regulation. What? Did you do a google search and then post articles with headlines that seemed to back up your claim? These are articles written by pundits making the same BS argument that amused but not distracted is trying to make.
Most? Obviously you have no clue just exactly how many regulations there are in this country. This list is a perfect example, even you could only pick 2 out of 10 that you agree with.
Under the guidance of this doctrine, America's leaders exempted certain derivatives from regulatory oversight; they watered down requirements that banks balance their risk with safe assets; they overruled state-level predatory lending laws; they exempted credit default swaps from regulation as insurance products and they dialled back the Federal Reserve's regulatory powers.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/06/republicans-no-business-regulation
As long as we allow federal regulations and bureaucratic red tape to get in the way of energy exploration, our country will never solve its energy crisis, and Americans will continue to pay the price in high costs.
http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/energy/
Regulation can actually benefit big business and corporate greed, while simultaneously killing small businesses that are the backbone of our now faltering economy. This is why I get so upset every time someone claims regulation can resolve the crisis that we are in. Rather, it will only exacerbate it.
http://www.ronpaul.com/2008-11-10/ron-paul-why-more-regulation-makes-things-worse/
Rather, the new approach will focus on managing
the traffic of those individuals who are using the most bandwidth at times when network
congestion threatens to degrade subscribers’ broadband experience and who are contributing
disproportionately to such congestion at those points in time.
http://downloads.comcast.net/docs/Attachment_B_Future_Practices.pdf
http://gigaom.com/2010/11/29/forget-net-neutrality-comcast-might-break-the-web/
Here's an example of what most regualtion looks like- http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/money/51697320-79/hair-license-clayton-utah.html.csp
The woman is expected to spend 18 grand and two years in school even though there is no school that teaches the one thing she does. Please defend it; I dare you.

What you are implying is false and you know it
Comcast got busted for limiting people from using their network as per the agreement they had entered. they had also stopped people that used their networks (small region cable compinies in maryland) properly by slowing or stopping downloads, again that is why the net netural regualtion went into place

So please feed us some more ron paul lies about regulations.
A red flag must have went up when a Staples delivery truck was in the parking lot
That's not a very serious... clipping penalty..... Illegal use of the hands? Pass(out) interference? Illegal motion? Hey!! Illegal substitution!!!!
I wonder if he cleaned teeth with erasers and used white out to get rid of yellow stains.
I wonder how many people came out of the anesthesia only to see this guy doing up his pants?
Wonder what he would use in a penal implant ???
Like dentists don't make enough money.
Careful your green with envy is showing!
I wouldn't doubt it he's skeevy enough to abuse patients then what else wouldn't he do.
dano-3878024, Water balloons from the Dollar store what else?
ONE lousy year for bilking the government of of how much medicare and medicaid? This is so pointless to even take these thugs to court.
He already has plans for the millions he has in some account somewhere that the Feds have not even found. He is smiling all the way to jail and the government officials have egg on their face again.
Here's a really good question, did he do this only to the poor and elderly? Did he see them as easier victims? Did he have a sense of entitlement that led him to victimize those who saw him via goverment aid? I would be very interested to know.
good point, I wonder what social class his patients were.
If the patients were on medicaid, that, by itself, answers the questions about their financial status.
Good god, another gaseous, bloviating half-wit heard from.
By the time he out of jail, the taxpays will be out of $160,000; $130,000 from Medicaid + $30,000 for room and board.
Just goes to prove that the amount of time spent in school does not make one "smart"
Or honest either.
Didn't make him smart, who do you think looks stooped in this. Bet he has a great Smile right! One year! Just wait for the law suites of course lets hope those lawyers know how to look for money!
Why do all these comment threads come down to picking apart other people's spelling and grammar. Focus people!
This story reminds of the south of the border plastic surgeons that use cement and super glue on their patients...
There is a medical form of super glue out there. They use it instead of stitches sometimes. There ain't no medical form of paper clip.
Friend of ours is a long-time professional guitarist. He keeps super glue with him at all times to repair cuts to his fingers so he can keep playing. He says it works fine, an fast.
Alan Dean Foster,
"Friend of ours is a long-time professional guitarist.
I knew a girl who played the tuba.. oh, never mind.
He was ADA approved!
I've been following the story for a while. Been in the local news. A sure fire way to get in the national news is inappropriate use of office supplies.
By "4 out of 5" dentists.. I've always wanted to meet that 5th Dentist, see what HE'S got to say..........
Pragmatic, wait till you see what he did with push pins and binder clips! ;)
Reminds me of a certain scene in "Little Shop of Horrors" ...
feed me................
Where is his office, at STAPLES?
No restitution to Medicare? I thought we had a policy of ending Medicare fraud.
To my knowledge, medicare doesn't cover dental at all.
it covers life threatening dental work, root canals inpacted teeth and such, not the cleanings and such
That is a pretty insignificant amount, isn't it Wolfen?
seeing root canals can be upwards of several thousand and he was doing them 4 to 5 times a day according to some reports and cutting cost by over hald using inpoper studs(paperclips) and haveing been busted prior to this seires of "mistakes" which last over several years and possibly several thousand patients so the amount is upwards of several 100k to a million
Not excatley chump change
and the whole deal about his partners not knowing when he was using them as docs doing the work......
Medicare does not cover dental, hearing or eyes. So, by the governments standards, you can be toothless, deaf and blind and you are doing great. I am working on all three and going broke.
http://www.yourdentistryguide.com/uninsured/
It does cover some dental
If anyone understands the nature of health, they know that dental health forms a basis for all health.
I bet he's a republican.
He is from Massachusetts. I'm betting what change I have left from the last three yrs He's a dummocrate.
you have change left? dont say that to much obama will come and take that to
Spell check jr. Spellcheck.
my gawd paper clips will corrode and rust and the infections could have traveled to their brains and cause cancer and loss of their jaws, and on and on, and then the money he stole on top of it, and he gets a year!? what the hell is going on! this needs to be investigated! a minimum of 5 years, preferred 10 years, and pay every damn penny back/with interest would have been the correct sentence. this needs to be investigated as to why he got off so easy!
Hello! Nice suit. Nice car. Nice family. Top notch attorney. No (getting caught) priors. He was a small business owner. Sound familiar?
Well this was just the criminal case. The civil case will take everything he will ever own.
Undoubtedly, a significant campaign contributor. Money paves a lot of roads, greases a lot of skids.
Ask the dumba$$ in charge of the DOJ. What a joke, the DOJ runs like Detroit
Ever notice how people of privilege always get off with a light sentence, no matter what the crime might be. It seems as though they always take care of their own.
Do you mean something like the deadly car accident Laura Bush had all those years ago and somehow she ended up the victim when she told Reader's Digest about it?
I bet he is doing the same thing in Maryland
Ever notice how people of privilege always get off with a light sentence, no matter what the crime might be. It seems as though they always take care of their own.
THE RICH, DOCTORS and DENTISTS get SHORT sentences where the poor get LONG sentences.
Gotta love Amerika.
its because this country is being ran by a bunch of crooks
How dare you talk about obama that way.
durt_bagg you are really quite uninformed aren't you?
I think the RICH celebrities, rock stars, movie stars, athletes who contribute nothing to society get off much lighter than the docs and dentists. Where's the outrage there??
Imagine the pain his former patients will endure and the possibility of dying from infection due to his acts. On top of that, he gets one year in some country club jail.
He really should have gotten five to ten. He even frauded Medicaid. The patients could have died from those paper clips.
They still could once the coating wears off and the rust begins.. Then infection abscess and blood poisoning...
Good thing he wasn't Jewish or you could imagine the comments.
Willing to bet that "peer review" did nothing.
I very much agree. There should be easily accessible records of things like this so that patients are able to protect themselves.
Such a national registry would serve as a big deterrent in this context.
Cheap paper clips from China, no doubt.
No paper clips are one of the last products still produced in the US.
why you make bad talk on china
...Witness intimidation on top of all of that... and he will only serve one year... What a sick joke...
1YR??? does he have to pay back all the money he stole??
right, he should have to pay back restitution to Medicaid.
Bullets are a lot cheaper then prison.
But prisons allow the demos to strenghten their base.
This is beyond belief. What a crud. It is too bad the sentence was not greater - don't understand why not.
Write to the judge. Whenever you hear about a case that particularly irks you, write to the judge and put pressure on him/her.
Thanks marinman but that's what we're doing about obamacare & romneycare.
that makes it double jeopardy. ha!!
