Success. This virus popped up out of nowhere less than eight months ago and thanks to the efforts of our nation's public health system, we already have a vaccine -- and instrutions on how to protect ourselves.

Failure. Sure, we've got a vaccine, but many people in high-risk groups haven't been able to get it.

Between. It could be better, but could also be much, much worse.

This survey needs another option, none of the above. The threat of swine flu is way overblown. How can they say how many people have died of swine flu when they are not even testing for it. Just another way for pharmaceutical companies to make more money.

Considering this strain of the flu just showed up, and we already have a vaccine (though sparse), we are doing okay.

Ahh ha ha ya SOME PEOPLE have the vaccine and our new and improved "transparent" government of BHO is refusing to say who it is going to.

So far they've vastly undetestimated how many vaccines would be available in a timely manner, was giving away 10% of the vaccines that we had to 3rd world countries (Polosi promised we would) and the news is that the vaccine is hit and miss in it's distribution. Oh yeah, the govt is handling things as well as can be expected. Let's have them take $1trillion+ of our taxes 3 years before they see to it that our healthcare becomes more beneficial.

Why are we limiting the criteria for good response to whether or not people can access a vaccine? This is not the only way to lessen a widespread viral outbreak. It would be very eye-opening to find out how many of the kids who died came from backgrounds where a) there's no health insurance; b) both parents work (or their single parent works full-time); and/or c) there's little education regarding hand-washing, hygiene and helping your sick child avoid crowds. We don't hear about that stuff. If we did, there'd be a take-away lesson for us all.

Compared to the seasonal flu, this swine flu thing has been blown WAY out of proportion. As one who usually gets the seasonal flu vaccine, I'm not taking either this year. Too many questions posed by those willing to ask questions. Fortunately, I rarely catch whatever's going around and I'm not in the "at risk" population.

The efforts of our Federal Public Health organizations have been tremendously successful in implementing a safe, effective vaccine for us in so short a time. The problem in getting the vaccine to the people is at the state and then the county level. Each entity can decide how to procede: Lake County, IL is a disaster, Will County, IL is outstanding with their walk-in clinics (so organized and friendly), McHenry County, IL is super as well with both walk-in & appointment locations, Cook County, IL is failing the suburbs (super slow to schools, obscure appointment system). ANYONE CAN GO TO ANY COUNTY! See websites. SAVE YOUR CHILDREN'S LIVES!!! SAVE YOUR LIFE!!! GET EVERYONE VACCINATED - WE DID! (no problems).

The reason this stain of flu is news - is it kills people. The regular. seasonal flu can also kill, so vaccination for it was a good thing to do. However, the H1N1 strain was not covered in the original vaccine, as such would provide "no" protection. We had all year to stockpile vaccines for the annual Flu - those strains which were likely to be widespread, based on projections, mutations, patterns assembled from observing trends all over the world.

The thing that caught the World off guard is Mexico is in North America, our next door neighbor - some how we just can't grasp the reality that - in many ways - there are parts of Mexico that are near 3rd world status. They are ruled by warlords (in the form of international gangs or worse - have become defacto "Narco-States". The Central government of Mexico is ruled by or leadership is traded, like baseball cards ... by elite families, with very little consideration to actual polls.

That was the locus of the initial outbreak, patient Zero was not from Asia, Africa this time.

To the Repugnicans - Keep hiring illegals, transferring medical care costs to the USA public and paying subsistence wages - then complain about why the Feds ae having a hard time keeping the public health.

When the feds do try to stop the flow of illegals - Agri-business starts screaming about then need workers. Between the business "Dons" of the California Central Valley, construction companies and the large Orchards through out the country - the only reason "any" lip service is directed toward illegal immigrants is for show or to keep illegal immigrants from complaining about wages, ill treatment and exploitation. unfortunately, the "ICE" agency has become a "pimp" for corporations, at the expense of citizen labor.

Bottom line, you are exposed to H1N1 in subtle and varied ways. The food we eat, is often harvested by people who can not afford to miss a days work, they work in fields which are miles long (meaning, when the inevitable "potty break "is required, do you really think they spend 1/2 hour or more walking to find a bathroom - or is there possibly another way they can perform that function?

There is a reason we have the immigration service. Besides its policing functions, it also screens legal immigrants for contagious diseases, drugs and human trafficking. It's not just Esmeralda, Demetri or Hakeem looking for a "better life".

Everything seems small, until it gets out of hand - then the finger pointing starts.

If you are not ready to recognize the Good, then don't complain about the Bad.
